Get ready to experience the open road with The Wild Buggers. Based in beautiful Cape Town, we are a dedicated community of enthusiasts who live for the beach buggy lifestyle and classic VW motoring. Our club started back in 1995 on a simple foundation: a love for these iconic machines, spanner-time in the garage, and the freedom of South African roads. As the most active beach buggy club Cape Town has to offer, we don’t just park these cars; we drive them.

Whether you are running a classic VW air-cooled flat-four, a rugged Baja Bug, an old-school classic, or a custom water-cooled engine setup like a Nissan conversion, your ride has a place in our line. For us, it is all about the drive, the adventure, and the great community ‘gees’.

What We Are About: If you are looking for high-speed racing or a pub crawl, you’re in the wrong place. We’re about simple, honest fun. Our official club runs take place on the second Sunday of every month, with unofficial “in-betweener” runs scattered in between. From early morning breakfast runs to legendary weekend camping trips, the Wild Buggers spirit is found in every kilometer we travel together.

Why Join Our Family? Whether you are a veteran driver or just getting started with your first build, our club is the perfect place to share technical advice, help each other out during garage days, and enjoy a great social life. We welcome all variations of Beach Buggy, Baja Bug, air-cooled VW classics, and VW Beetles. Our weekend warriors are always ready to share knowledge to keep every buggy—regardless of the motor—on the road.

Think You’ve Got What It Takes? We don’t just sell our club Colours to anyone—you’ve got to earn them! Newcomers are always welcome to join the convoy, but you’ll need to join us for 2 or 3 monthly runs with the family first. This lets you see if our laid-back vibe fits you, and lets us welcome you properly before you officially earn your back patch.
